Our journey began in Hitech City, embarking on an exciting trip to the Kondapochamma Sagar Reservoir, covering a distance of 97.2 kilometers. Opting for a water route, we arrived in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. However, if you choose the local route by road, be prepared for a two-hour drive. Whatever the case, the trip is another culinary delight, especially for the eyes – it is full of impressive views of the surroundings.

The reservoir is named after Kondapochamma, a local deity worshipped in the region, giving the project deep cultural roots. Visitors interested in local traditions will find this site spiritually enriching, as it reflects the close relationship between nature and culture in Telangana. The only remarkable place is the Temple of Lord Anjaneya which was marvelous in structure with different intricate designs and very calm and peaceful place. It is a place where you can have a nice time and it also serves a purpose of a prayer ground as you trek.

When we came closer to the reservoir I thought it might be interesting to take a different route somewhere. To my surprise, I encountered a crab along the way – a quirky reminder of the wildlife you might come across. This impromptu adventure, combined with the breathtaking scenery, made the trip even more memorable.

The Kondapochamma Reservoir, part of the Kaleshwara Project, is the fourth link in a series of seven. Situated at an altitude of 510 meters above sea level, it serves a vital purpose – irrigating 300,000 acres of land through 13 canals. The reservoir holds approximately 15 TMC of water and has a storied history, including the acquisition of 5,000 acres of land and the relocation of nearly five villages for its construction.
